On Thursday, June 6, deputies with the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit were on patrol in a parking lot in Carmel when they spotted a suspicious van with a man sitting inside.

Further investigation into the man and the van found that he was in possession of varying quantities of Oxycodone, Amphetamine, and Concentrated Cannabis, and he was taken into custody.

The 44-year-old man, whose name was not released, was arrested and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for processing. The suspect was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of criminal possession of a weapon, all misdemeanors.

Following his processing, the man was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Carmel Justice Court later this year to respond to the charges.
